BMW E21 323i & 2002 Turbo Rear Wheel Bearing Kit

We supply rear wheel bearing kits for the BMW E21 323i and BMW 2002 Turbo. Each vehicle option includes four bearings, four rear axle shaft seals and two split pins to cover both sides of the rear axle.

The bearing sizes differ between the two options. The E21 323i uses one 30 x 58 x 16 mm bearing and one 30 x 62 x 16 mm bearing per side. The 2002 Turbo uses two 30 x 58 x 16 mm bearings per side. Select your vehicle before adding the kit to your basket.

• 2 x 30 x 58 x 16 mm deep groove ball bearings with 2RS seals
• 2 x KOYO 30 x 62 x 16 mm deep groove ball bearings with 2RS seals
• 4 x rear axle shaft seals
• 2 x 5 x 45 mm split pins

BMW 2002 Turbo kit contents

• 4 x 30 x 58 x 16 mm deep groove ball bearings with 2RS seals
• 4 x rear axle shaft seals
• 2 x 5 x 45 mm split pins

You recieve enough bearings and seals for both rear trailing arms with either option. The 2RS designation identifies bearings with seals on both sides. These bearing seals are separate from the four axle shaft seals supplied in the kit.

BMW part numbers are supplied for identification. They dont indicate that the bearings in this kit are genuine BMW parts.

This listing covers the E21 323i and 2002 Turbo arrangements described above. Dont assume the kit fits other E21 or 2002 models because a bearing has the same outer diameter. The dimensions are shown as bore x outer diameter x width.

In a BMW 02 Club bearing size discussion an owner was trying to identify loose bearings. A reply highlighted the 28 mm bore used on standard 2002 rear bearings compared with the Turbo's 30 mm bore. Both can have a 58 mm outer diameter so measuring the outside alone wont distinguish them.

If your car has replacement trailing arms or a rear axle conversion check the bearings actually fitted before ordering.

Before fitting

Inspect the stub axle, hub and bearing seats while the assembly is apart. Keep any spacers and shims identified by side and position. They arent included in this kit. Follow the BMW procedure for checking their condition and setting the bearing assembly.

A BMW 2002 FAQ discussion about a loose rear hub nut also drew attention to worn splines and centre spacers. Its a useful reminder to inspect the surrounding parts rather than assuming new bearings will correct every source of rear wheel play.

Apply fitting force through the bearing ring being pressed into place. Dont transmit that force through the balls or press against the rubber seals. Use the correct workshop tightening procedure and secure the castellated nut with a new split pin.
